Coffee and Stress

Coffee has been seen for a long time as an ally for the loss of weight, mainly because it is low in calories and activates your metabolism.

New research shows otherwise, knowing the behavior of the coffee in the body in different situations and attitudes to the usual activity.

Coffee stimulates the production of cortisol, a hormone related to the stress response. When we are creating optimum cortisol raises blood pressure and speeds up the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats. To do this, increases the level of glucose in blood to the muscles and cells optimize their performance. This increase in glucose in the blood makes us all with more hunger and therefore will tend to eat more

because it is usually this stress comes not by an increase in the physical but mental activity, the body does not spend the excess calories that are ingested and therefore it tends to gain more weight.

When the stress situation is punctual, once the emergency hormone levels of cortisol and the physiological processes are back to normal, but if you keep the high levels of cortisol with continued coffee as is very often today due to the rhythm of life that we, being the sole supplier of glucose from the brain will try to get it in different ways, either destroying tissues, muscle proteins, fatty acids and closing the entry of glucose into the other tissues.

The symptoms associated with high levels of cortisol are:

Mental:

Changes of behavior

lack of sense of humor.

Constant irritability.

Feelings of anger.

Just Want to cry.

Physical:

permanently tired even if we do nothing.

Headaches.

Palpitations.

High blood pressure.

Lack of appetite or gluttony disproportionate.

Digestive Problems.

Frequent urination, diarrhea, or constipation.

Muscle pain or cramps.

Infertility and cessation of menses.

Loss of memory due to the high levels of cortisol damages the connection between brain cells.

Decline of the defenses.

The timely and controlled coffee can have its beneficial effect, while the continued presence in our daily habits, makes remain high cortisol levels depleted the natural response of body (adrenal glands) generating the increasing dependence as artificial activator that we slowly wears away. The habitual consumption of antioxidants of quality, modulates and reduces the levels of cortisol after the stressful situations that we face regularly.
